Computing in primary schools is going Barefoot!
The Barefoot Computing Programme provides free, high-quality resources to boost primary teachers' confidence with the computer science elements of the computing curriculum. This helps young people become 'computational thinkers', enriching their career options and life choices.
Supported by CAS, BT, Department for Education and Raspberry Pi, the Programme has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from thousands of participating teachers over the last year.
You can register on the Barefoot website for free access to:
- Computing CPD Workshops - lively, hands-on sessions run in schools by a local, friendly, trained Volunteer to help teachers bring computer science to life in the classroom
- Easy-to-use classroom resources - exciting, cross-curricular activities that make it easy to incorporate computing concepts throughout the primary curriculum, and enhance pupils' progress in a range of subjects
- Self-teach notes - guidance to deepen teachers' understanding of key computing concepts, language and vocabulary
In addition, the Programme will be promoting and supporting the establishment of communities of primary teachers who wish to share ideas and good practice around the teaching of computing.
